3D Printed Shoes

I have used 3D printing when I was in my undergrad to make inexpensive models and prototypes. Pauline Van Dongen from the Netherlands, worked on a collection of 3D printed shoes for her graduate thesis. How fun! She has titled the high heel collection “Metamorphosis”. 3D printing is actually comprised of fused powdered nylon material that is “printed” in a machine.

Having worked with 3D printed objects, I know they are not particularly sturdy and durable when exposed to repetitive wear. I think the Metamorphosis design is an interesting concept which attempts to push the boundaries of fashion more and more into the tech space.

Omg, that’s crazy! I wonder if people in fashion school need to learn AutoCAD…lets hope not!
